New York City Trip

Posted by Megan at 11:02 PM 4 comments
So I don't really blog anymore, but I figure this is the best place to talk about my NYC trip

I recently took a vacation to New York City. New York is my favorite place in the entire world, but the particular reason for this trip was to visit the One Life To Live Studio’s in hopes of meeting some of my favorite actors. As promised I took lots of pictures, and I have stories to tell =)

April 6th 2010:
Tuesday was the longest day of the trip. We had about a 14 hour train ride to the city, that took longer than planned because of the constant stops for construction on the train. But after the never ending train ride we had made it to New York City! As soon as we got off the train in Penn Station the first stop was outside to get used to our surroundings. Just stepping outside to the city filled me with excitement. However I knew that none of the real stuff would start until the next day. We managed to find our way around the subway system (with lots of help from my twitter friends from NYC) and made it to our hotel room in Queens. We ate dinner at a pretty awful Diner (Pop Diner, I don’t recommend it), went back to the hotel and showered, then headed off to bed ready for the day ahead of us.

April 7th 2010:
We woke up bright and early at 5 AM (as decided by me lol) and took an hour to get ready. My dad and Jacque pretty much drug their feet the entire way, but I was wide and awake with excitement. We managed to make it out of the hotel by six, and after made it to the OLTL studio’s by 7:15ish.
The first two stars we saw were JPL and Farah. It took me a second to realize who it was, and I right away said good morning to them, not wanting to bug anyone for pictures so early in the morning. John was pleasant, smiled and wished us a good morning. Farah was very stand offish, which I thought was likely because it was so early, but she was the same way while going out of the studio. I really don’t like her much, I don’t know her personally so I can’t say anything about her on a person level, but the way she acted that day was enough for me to dislike what I know of her.
The next person we saw was Illene Kirsten. She was in a hurry but was nice enough to allow me to have a picture with her =) I did however promise her that I wouldn’t put it online after she stated “Please don’t put it on Facebook or anything I don’t have any make-up on.” It was great to get to meet her in person, I’ve talked to her on Stardish Radio (GO CHECK IT OUT http://www.stardishradio.net/) and she really is sweet.

Walking out of the studio we managed to catch Shaun Ringgold. I have to say he is like a huge teddy bear. He was just too sweet and loveable and I was so glad I got to meet him. I was also so happy to meet him because that means he’s recording, which means we get to see more of Sean, I adore his character and he really is a great actor.

I think one of the most un-recognizable actors for me was Michael Easton. He was on his way out of the studio when he caught my eye. Wearing sunglasses made it slightly hard for me to know who he was, but the biggest factor was he was so much tinier in real life than on TV. When I watch John I see this tall, built, cop. In real life he just seems so different, so much smaller, not quite as powerful. Anyways I was beyond excited to meet him. He was my first soap crush ago years ago when I started watching One Life To Live. He was very nice, asked us about who we had met and that type of stuff. It was so awesome to get to meet him.

The two people I wanted to meet most were Brandon Buddy and Kristen Alderson, and I kept telling myself to ask one of the actors I met if they were working, however I kept forgetting. I was watching as Jason Tam and Mark Lawson walk down the street, when they got to the door I asked Jason if they were working, he said he was sorry but he didn’t know, then they went in… that was it! As soon as they went inside it hit me that I had just let Jason Tam walk past me and I didn’t do a single thing! I just asked him about Kristen and Brandon. I couldn’t believe it, and tried to wait until he got out of work to meet him but I didn’t meet him that day.

My dad wandered around most of the day, but was back in time to see Bob Woods. If you ask my dad he looks so much older in person then he does on TV, but I thought he looked great. I didn’t really talk to him much, just snapped a pic and he was on his way.

I had earlier watched Bree and BethAnn go into the studio, and when BethAnn came out I was quick to get a picture. She was an absolute doll. She was so sweet and happy and just adorable. When she walked away she twirled around talking about how beautiful it was outside. It was amazing to get to meet her.

The next stars we spotted were Farah and JPL coming out of the studio. John was once again sweet to all of us, while Farah simply just walked away. They managed to get away quickly when David Fumero showed up. I have to say he is even hotter in person! Lol I mean yeah he looks great on TV, but he’s incredible in person. He was too great to all of us =)

Next but not least at all is Brittany Underwood. Who out of everyone I met was my absolute favorite. I can’t even put into words how sweet she was to me and the other few people who were there. I was so nervous to meet her, and she just gave me a hug and was absolutely incredible. Out of all the other stars she stayed and talked with us the longest, she was just so happy and sweet and it was amazing to get to meet her. I also was sure to mention her that she’s nothing like Langston which she of course took as a compliment and thanked me for that. As much as it makes me sick to watch Langston, knowing how amazing Brittany is makes it slightly easier. <3

While we were at the studio a wall fell down across the street which was cause for tons of fire trucks (and good looking firemen lol) While watching the action across the street I looked up in the window to see Bob Woods and Hilary B. Smith watching too out the window. I was able to snap a picture of it

The last star I met that day was Bree Williamson who is such a sweet heart. I congratulated her on her pregnancy and she was just as happy as could be. And I have to say I adore her sense of fashion. Both days that I met her, her outfits were adorable.

After the studio’s we went to Times Square to meet a friend of mine from online Kizzy. Thank goodness she knew the area and was able to find us in Times Square, because there is no way that we would have been able to find her. Kizzy was too sweet to us. It was so great to get a chance to meet her, online she’s always seemed so awesome, but meeting her in person just made it even better. She was great about giving us directions, suggesting places to go, and just awesome to hang out with. I have a picture but it’s not a great picture of me haha so Im not going to put mine up, but she did take a picture so I’m going to steal that one =)

After hanging out with Kizzy for a bit we ate dinner and walked around Times Square for a bit. Checking out the lobby of Ripley’s was pretty cool, but we didn’t actually go in. We ended up taking a double decker bus tour. That was incredibly fun. We went all over the city, the tour guide was amazing, he was funny and very informative. Here’s a few pictures, if you want to see all of them, they should be on my Facebook in the next few days http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/profile.php?ref=profile&id=695717305

After the night tour we went back to the hotel, and crashed for the night.

April 8th 2010
So the day started off at 5 AM again, and we managed to get ready and leave by 5:30. However when we got down to the subway station my dad realized that he had left his cell at the hotel, had to go back to get it, then come back. After the long wait he came back and realized then that he didn’t leave it there, looked in his bag again and it was there. Stuff happens sometimes right? Then we got on the subway and made our way back to the studio.
The first stars I saw that day was Kristen and Eddie Alderson! However I didn’t actually get to meet them =( Jacque and I had walked ahead of my dad, and I was watching him walk up to us, and he had a paper bag in his hand. I was too busy trying to figure out what he had to notice that Kristen and Eddie were walking right in front of him! My friend was quietly saying “Megan it’s Kristen” but she was so quiet I couldn’t hear her =( So I noticed it was them by the time they were inside =( I waved to Kristen through the window, but that was it. I am so bummed that I missed meeting her and Eddie, but life goes on I met a lot of awesome people.
Anyways the next person I got to meet was the amazing Jason Tam, and this time I didn’t give up the chance to actually meet him. He was so nice and sweet and adorable. We talked about the letter I had wrote him asking if they would be working and the Joe Iconis show that I wanted to see, and how we couldn’t go because as he said “the city sucks money right out of you.” It was so amazing to get to meet him and I was able to tell him about how I stupidly didn’t get a picture with him the day before. Oh and yes he is even cuter in person <3

After Jason I got the chance to meet Shenell. She was very quiet but very sweet.

So while sitting outside the studio Brittany came running up the stairs in a hurry. However being the sweetie she is she stopped to give me a hug. She told me that she would be back in an hour or so that she had an appointment to get to.
The day before there was a few other people at the studio who would watch down the hallway of the studio to see who was coming out. It seemed to me kind of creepy to be staring into a window waiting for people, so I didn’t really do it, but I did snap a picture of it =)

Needing to talk about all of the exciting things going on I called my friend Tanya. While on the phone with her Kassie came out. She too was so nice to us. I asked her if Brandon was working and she said she wasn’t sure. She was talking about how she had been there since 7:30 and she was ready to just go home. She was just so cool and it was awesome to meet her. I can’t help but wonder if she is singing in the musical again.

After meeting her I went back to talking to Tanya when out of nowhere Brittany comes back and gives me a hug. She was just too sweet I can’t even put it into words. I asked her if she would be willing to say hi to Tanya real quick and she was more than happy to. After she talked to her that’s when I asked about Brandon and found out he wasn’t working =( I was really bummed, but at the same time I met so many awesome people so I couldn’t complain.

After I met Bree again and she was really sweet and took another picture, but it wasn’t a good one of either of us so I’m just going to leave that one out ;)

So here’s the story of the extra named Matt. He came out at one point, and was having a conversation with some guy about working on One Life To Live, and how the show is only going to last a few more years because there’s no market for it. I automatically didn’t particularly like him because of that, but oh well.
Later on he came out in his Rodi’s shirt so I asked him if I could take a picture real quick. Then asked him if he needed a lighter (he was asking for one earlier) so he said yeah and sat down and talked with us. It turns out he was really an awesome guy. We were talking about how I want to move to NYC and he was very positive about it. So many tell me it’s too hard and stuff but he was talking about how really if you want it just do it, and how he did it seven years ago and it worked out for him. He was a lot of fun to talk to and I’m glad that I was able to get to talk to him instead of just thinking he was mean for saying the show would be canceled =P

After that I managed to get a quick picture with Mark Lawson. I had watched him going in and out quite a few times, but finally asked to take a picture. He was really sweet and his eyes are to die for I’m just saying =)

I was also able to get a sneak peek at some Prom dresses =) A few of the people had come out for a lunch break at one point and two of the girls were still in what I’m assuming is their dresses for the musical. The girl’s dress in the middle is a whole bunch of rainbow colored peace signs it’s too cute. And then it looked the last dress was either a bunched up style or a rose type thing. It’s very cute too.

While we were waiting, randomly all of a sudden we hear a lady from behind us go, “Who are you girls waiting for?” I simply said “Kristen Alderson” the one person I had left to see, she came to us and was like, “Really? Because I’m her mom.” I was completely shocked. She was so sweet to us and explained to us how it’s hard for the actors to get out because of the size of the studio and that she would try to get Kristen out, but she couldn’t know for sure. Her mom was just so nice to us, and it was the next best thing to meeting Kristen =)
My dad got a picture with Sherri from the View. I had no clue who she was so I didn’t need to lol

That was the end of my adventures at the One Life To Live studio. I had so much fun, and met so many incredible people. I can’t wait to go back one day =)If you want all of my pics from the studio (the ones I didn't post are mostly just surroding buildings) then go ahead and download them >>>>> http://www.sendspace.com/file/m9zqo6

Class of 2010

Posted by Megan at 8:03 PM 0 comments
So I'm totally loving being a Senior this year. I can remember back when I was in Elementary school and I was always trying to figure out what year I would graduate, and how old I would be, all that fun stuff. And now its here, its crazy but its so exciting. I ordered my Senior shirt, so hopefully I'll have pictures of that soon I think they are putting the order in today. I bought a Senior keychain thingy.

So yesterday we had our very last class meeting. We got these packets from the people we order our Cap And Gowns from, and they have so many cute things in there. But its all insanely expensive so I'm probably gonna stick with just the Cap And Gown.

We talked about all the fun stuff we get to do Senior Year. I'm really excited for the Senior Banquet, and Senior Lock In. It all seems like so much fun. We talked about Senior Trip, I hate when people talk about it cause it sounds like so much fun. This year they are stopping at Six Flags in Kentucky on the way there. And instead of chosing between Universal and Islands Of Adventure they want to buy ones where we can go back in forth. They are doing the Blue Man group, Sea World, the ocean, a myster dinner thing. It sounds like lots of fun. Til they told us it will be in the range of $550 give or take a little. So its insanely expensive. Plus they need the first paymet of either $120 or $150 (I cant remember which) by October 12-16 so they can hold a seat on the bus for you. So I've officially knocked Senior Trip off of my list of things, but the rest of it still seems like soooo much fun. So I'm really excited for everything else.

The actual school part of Senior year is pretty easy too. I'm doing this thing where I'm taking at least one picture every day that I'm at school. It shouldn't be a problem since I love to take pictures, I just cant slack off on the whole uploading them all every day thing. Cause I fill up my camera pretty fast. I may or may not post pictures. I'll probably post some once and a while. Then I'll post big events like homecoming. But if you wanna see the pictuers I tweet the majority of them.

I'm insanely busy these next few weekends. Like this weekend I'm going to my friends house Friday, Saturday we (me, mom, dad, possibly jacque) are gonna go see Fame. Then the next weekend after that is Homecoming so I've got the game Friday, my friend is having a bonfire after that, then the dance Saturday. The next weekend I'm probably going to get a chance to relax, but the one after that is the trip to NYC =) So I'm on the go a lot these next few weekends.

Staying Positive

Posted by Megan at 9:06 PM 4 comments
Things have been really good for me lately. Which makes me slightly nervous that things wont stay that way, but I'm going to just go ahead and enjoy the good things =) Most of it you guys won't care about, so I won't really get into that, but one of the things is I may be going to New York City in October. We (Me, mom, dad, mel, and jon) were supposed to take Lynn to a water park in Pennsylvania, but instead we may take her to the zoo in Central Park. Which makes me incredibly happy because I love the city so much and can't wait to go back. My mom said we are just going for the day, I think we should find a cheap hotel, stay an extra day and take Lynn to the Toys R Us store, and maybe Build A Bear, find some other fun things do to. I was going to look for hotels but Google's not working for me. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Either way I'm super excited to be going =)

School's going good. I love all of my classes except Pre-Calc. I'm not even going to get into how awful that class it. I love Yearbook so much though. We have a project where we have to take pictures using different styles. I've finished part of it so I figured I would post the pictures I've taken so far. These ones aren't for the yearbook itself, I think its a, she needs a grade type of thing. So anyways here are the pictures I have so far.

My last first second day of school

Posted by Megan at 8:03 PM 0 comments
So today was an even day, kinda like another first day of school. New classes and what note. I had another good day. Lunch is incredibly boring, cause we got a bunch of annoying people in it, but oh well life goes on. Anyways just like yesterday here's a break down of my classes.

2nd Block: Creative Writing
I already love this class. I love to write everything and anything. Two of my really close friends are in the class with me, so it's going to be a lot of fun. My teacher is Ms. Rose, and I have her for so much, but she is such a cool teacher so I'm really glad its her that I have all the time. She's a very laid back person, we normally have lots of free time to work on stuff in class, and just kind of hang out. We had homework, but I finished that in AC. All we had to do was write a list poem. Really easy stuff.

3rd Block: AC
Same stuff as yesterday. Nothing much exciting about that.

4th Block: Sociology
I looooove this class. My teacher is Mr. Boyce. He was my Sophmore AC teacher, and my US History teacher. He is one of the most go with the flow type of teachers I've ever had. He always has fun, we listen to music, watch videos that type of thing. He's traveled allllll over so we get to see things he brings back, I've tried some berry things from some other country. He brought in silk worms for people to try (im sure as you guys can guess I DID NOT try those lol). So he is such a cool teacher. Normally Mrs. Huber teachers that class, but I guess the state says she's not qualified so its Mr. Boyce's first year, and he has let us know that he's teaching a few other classes and that he still hasnt even read through the whole Soc book, and that it's pretty much going to be a blow off class. Which not that I need a blow off class, and I didnt expect it to be, but I'm always happy to have an easy class (considering I'm taking Pre-Calc). So I'm looking forward to that class, even though I don't really talk to anyone in the class, a lot of juniors are in there.

6th Block: English 12
Once again I have Ms. Rose. The class should be fun, normally I love English, but we're going to have a 10 page research paper that needs lots and lots of notecards. I HATE research papers. And even more I hate having to do notecards and bib cards. I just don't like that stuff and think its ridiculous to have to do it. Other than that it shouldnt be too bad. Once again I've got Ms. Rose and she's such a cool teacher it shouldnt be too bad. Thats another class where we've got time at the end to do work and just kind of hang out.

So over all I really love my Senior year. It's going to be a lot of fun, and I threw in Pre-Calc so its not a total blow off year lol. Still not sure if I'm going on Senior trip, I dont think so, its insanely expensive, but I'll see how things go.

First Odd Day Of School

Posted by Megan at 3:22 PM 0 comments
So today was my first odd day of school. I managed to fall asleep around 10 which is incredibly early for me, and instead of sleeping til 6 I woke up at 5:30. I'm super tired and trying to avoid a nap right now.

So first I'm gonna start off with the negative (Since most of it was good stuff)

The bus system is all messed up now. I'm on a totally different bus in the morning that I was last year and now my friend Jacque isnt on with me. The positive side of all this is I dont have to deal with this guy Trent who is incredibly annoying. The busses are messed up in the afternoon too. I normally rode the bus to the stop at the Country Club, but now they dont go there. There's only three stops the first one being the middle school where I get off. Its a way longer walk (which is fine now til winter comes then it sucks majorly) but the plus is its the first stop. And another plus once again is no Trent.

The other negative is I fell. There was some stupid puddle by the water fountain, and I was busy talking and I slipped and fell. Most of you know back at the begining of the year I fractured my ankle, and that ankle is hurting now, but I dont think its as serious as before.

Oh and the last negative is my Pre-Calc class. My teacher, as much as he is totally awesome (I had him last year for AC), he's got some issues. He has a tendancy to go off on random tangets about things that mean nothing at all. And I'm afraid of how I'll do in that class, since he's talks so much about things other than math.

Wait one more negative. AC used to be just study hall, with a ciriculum assignment on Monday's. But now they've cut down our passing time from 9 minutes to 6, and added that on to AC. Now in AC Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we have to watch Channel One and write a "journal entry" about it, then on Tuesday, and Thursday we have to read a book for like 20 minutes and do another Entry about it. I dont like that change at all.

Anyways onto the good stuff. Here's how my classes went today:

1st Block: Choir
I loooooved Choir! It is by far my favorite class of the day. My teacher is so much fun, she was so upbeat and it was just totally awesome. We didn't do much today. We did some fun little exercise things, and talked about how the year should play out. Then at the end she showed us a clip from the Carol Bernette (I think thats her name) show that featured the Jackson 5. Over all I just loooooved that class. I cant wait to do it for the rest of the year.

3rd Block: AC
AC seems pretty icky this year. I really only talk to one person in there (Erica) we share a locker. But since things have changed its just not the same. Plus I totally hate my teacher. Its the teacher I had for swimming my Freshman year, and he's a complete jerk. But at least its just AC, and anyone is better than my Freshman AC teacher.

5th Block: Pre-Calc
Yuckkk. I hate this class already. I have my teacher that I had for AC last year. And he's such a fun person, but thats not what I need for a math class. Math isnt my strong suit, and I dont know how well I'm going to do in that class. And there's no other teachers in the school that teach Pre-Calc so there's no switching teachers. I'll just try my best and my really smart friends (Nichole and Chayton) can help me too so thats always good. Oh and we've already got an insane amount of homework, even though we didnt go over a lesson today <__<

C Lunch: I got C lunch which I loved today. I had Nichole, Ayla, and Chayton in it, which all of us together is always lots of fun. So I'm really happy to have a good lunch this year. I have C lunch tomorrow too lets just hope its as good as todays =)

7th Block: Yearbook
This class seems pretty fun. My teacher is Ms. Rose, who is really awesome, but her room sucks lol. The seats are uncomfy, but the bad thing is I have her for three of my classes (Yearbook, English 12, and Creative Writing). But other than that I think I'll love it. A big part of the yearbook is taking pics which I looooove to do so I have a feeling this class will be good.

Besides the few little icky things. Today was a really fun day. I especially <3 Choir. Here's tomorrow's break down of classes

2nd Block: Creative Writing
3rd Block: AC
4th Block: Sociology (next semester that will change to Developemental Pyschology)
6th Block: English 12

I'll post tomorrow about my even day classes =)

Enjoying Freedom

Posted by Megan at 2:21 PM 0 comments
So today is technically my last full day of summer vacation (tomorrow I have to go to bed at a decent hour). I'm trying to savor it by doing.... well nothing. I'll probably be posting more once school starts, telling you all about the oh so thrilling things that go on day to day in my life, which living in my town isn't much. But its something at least.

Anyways off the subject of school cause it just depresses me. These past few weekends have been amazing for me. Last weekend we went up to Walmart to get my eyes checked and get a new pair of glasses, and instead I got contacts. I've wanted contacts for so long. The first day I had to put them in, I was starting to re-think it, I couldn't stop blinking, I hated having to touch my eye, it took like 40 minutes to get them in. Slowly over the next three or four days it got easier and easier and now I can get them in on the first try. It still takes me a little while to get comfortable in them when I first put them in. They usually feel uncomfy, but after 5 or 10 minutes its good. Now that I'm wearing them all day (when I first got them I could only wear them for a few hours) I'm starting to notice my eyes drying out, so last night we went to the store to find some rewetting drops (we finally figured out what I needed after my mom called Aunt Erika) so I'm hoping those work, and next Saturday I go back for a check up =)

But the REALLY big new (in my opinion anyways) came this weekend. After my Aunt Adrienne tweeted me a 20% off coupon for Coach. I took it as a joke because I adore purses, and have wanted a coach purse, but then my mommy tweeted that she printed it and MAYBE we could look. Well during the week, to get inspired my friend and I went to the mall and were looking around the Coach Outlet. I found a ton of adorable ones, I could spend hours in that store. So my mom came home this weekend, and I talked her into going. Now I must say when I went on Wednesday besides me and my friend there was like 2 people in there. This Saturday it was like a zoo. The look on my parent's faces was priceless, I seriously wish I had a picture. Neither of them understood the amazingness of a Coach purse. My mom found one she liked, but it didn't have the right shoulder strap, and she said something along the lines of "Who would pay $195 for a purse?" and the lady next to her goes "Oh I get one every year" while at the check out we heard the same lady talking about 10 people cutting them in line at the Coach store and it was this big thing, my dad seemed highly interested and amazed at how crazy people get over a purse. Anyways we found one for me =) it was after the 50% off from the store, and the 20% off fromt he coupon, $82 or something like that. Really not a bad price at all for a Coach purse. So I was beyond excited to finally have a Coach purse.

Oh and though no one cares but me the Longhorns won last night =)

Exit Light, Enter Night

Posted by Megan at 6:03 PM 0 comments
Okay so last night my mom took me and my dad to the drive-in. Anyone who knows me knows that I love scary movies. So we decided to see "Halloween 2" and "The Collector" I've wanted to see both of these movies. I love all of the Halloween movies, Rob Zombie (directed the new ones) is a pretty messed up man so I was expecting a great movie. The there's The Collector. That was made by the people who produced Saw, one of my all time favorite gore, pain, torture, type movies. So needless to say I had high hopes for that one.

So what did I think of the movies? I will tell you when I can actually see them! I completely understand that things are scarier in the dark. I hate the dark because of that. I'm the person who has every light in the house on, just so I don't enter a dark room. So yes darkness in a scary movie is a must, but there is a fine line between scary dark, and wtf dark. A movie can have the best gore, the best torture scenes, the greatest music and acting, but none of that matters if you can't see it. I don't understand, how while editing the movie they watch that and think its good. You can't see anything! They need to keep in mind, yes they know exactly what is going on because they've seen the movie come together, the people going to sit down and watch this movie have no idea whats happening. When a man pops out of a closet, then you're seeing people die who you don't even know where they came from, it's just not entertaining. So I really wish I could say whether or not I liked the movies. I like the idea of the movies, I like the scary parts of the movie that I could see, but I honestly had no idea half of the time what was going on during the movies.
